Royal Office of Heraldry: Recruitment Notice

Let it be known that the Royal Office of Heraldry is seeking to fill the position of Pursuivant Herald, set at the 9th Link of the Great Chain of Being.
Some of the many responsibilities include:
- Making announcements and proclamations on behalf of the Crown and Realm verbally at Royal events and in writing on the Heralds Slateboards and public noticeboards and calendars
- Learning the art and language of blazonry (the colors and imagery portrayed on coats of arms or armorial bearings)
- Learning to play the trumpet and doing so to herald the arrival of Royalty at ceremonial events sponsored by the Crown
- Learning the art of diplomacy and how to navigate complex politics and treaties in the best interest of the Realm
- In times of war, sounding trumpets to coordinate strategic movements, ferrying messages, identifying coats of arms on the battlefield, and enacting diplomatic duties and parlay as instructed
- Aiding Heralds and the Master Herald, as needed
The position of Herald is set at the 7th Link of the Great Chain of Being, involves greater responsibility in expertise and teaching, and will be considered for those with previous heraldry experience. The largely ceremonial positions of Royal Speaker and Banner Bearer also fall within the Royal Office of Heraldry, but are subject to be filled at the discretion of the Crown.
Successful applicants should ideally be Honored Guests and fluent in Northern. Please direct letters of interest and questions to myself directly.

I have been gratified with the interest thus far. Recruitment will remain ongoing and bells and lectures will commence after the close of Yarrnival, with the exception of a blazonry in piracy event during the festivities.

At minimum, applicants must be suitable to be groomed for service in the Inner Bailey, as this role is in direct service to the highest members of the Winter Court. Please speak with any member of the Royal Office of Heraldry to communicate your interest.
