Yule Army Medal Ceremony Empty Yule Army Medal Ceremony

Fri Dec 22, 2023 4:32 pm
Twenty-Second Day,  Twelfth Moon,
Twenty-Fourth Year of Recent Awakenings

In accordance with the will of Her Majesty and in upholding the duties charged to me as Court Chronicler, I hereby submit the account of Yule Army Medal Ceremony .

The aurora was filled with supportive denizens as the seventh bell rang out on the tenth day of the twelfth moon. Army, Watch, Nobles, and denizens alike filled the area as they waited for the Army Medal Ceremony to begin. Captain Vessa gave people time to settle in and gather some yummy treats and drinks provided. All eventually settled in and began to chit-chat. Armsman Nazrin could even be heard commenting about the amount of Army present, "It's an impressive sight, to see so many blue cloaks in one place."

The Captain-Dame began her speech, “Good evening and on behalf of the Lord Marshal and Her Majesty's Royal Army, welcome. Tonight we're gathered to recognize our soldiers for their hard work and professionalism for the 23rd and 24th year of these Recent Awakenings. From attending practices to engagements against ghostly prisoners, headless horsemen, and the ever-present threat of the clockwork creatures, each soldier standing before you has performed above and beyond and tonight we give a formal and hardy thank you to each of them.”

The Lord Marshal stepped forward to assist with the pinning as Captain Vessa began calling people up. She started first with medals for excellence in personal training. For excellence in crossbows, she called Serjeants Nexian, Tristan, and Aratan. For excellence in spear work, she called for Lieutenant Kathris, Yeoman Khalea, and Kobe. Following this she called for those skilled in the shield which were Lieutenant Kathris, Serjeant Nexian, and Yeoman Khalea.

Following this she called out attendance, counting those participating in the most practices. First was Luitenant Kathris, with Serjeant Nexian as second and Serjeant Tristan as third. Promptly after the pining of these medals came the recognition of battle, "We have had several engagements over the last two years. The gaol was overrun by ghostly prisoners and we were called upon to help support the Winter Watch. ser Darcient made his first appearance in year 23 and was subsequently captured by the Army, and again we have had to deal with the banditry matter for a good portion of year 24. Both years saw the emergence of the so-called haunted library with its cursed books that leveled a headless horseman and other apparitions against our people. For each of these matters, the Army stepped forth and met the dangers. As I call your name, please step forward to receive your medal."

Lieutenant Kathris was recognized for her efforts against the forgotten prisoners, the bandits, ser Darcient, and the haunted library. Serjeants Nexian and Tristan were called forth for the bandits, ser Darcient, and the haunted library. Sir Darvius, Serjeant Aratan and Yeoman Vaden, Khalea, and Kobe's efforts were noted against the bandits and the haunted library.

Captain Vessa took special note of the incident regarding the tome and the battle against the clockworks, "The clockworks arrived everywhere from the Inner to the Outer, and denizens took up arms in defense. Most notably, the fight centered at the tome itself, where a relentless shower of clockwork creatures made a heavy assault. This proved fruitless. As wave after wave of the enemy attempted to batter the tome, our men stood firm, breaking the tide on their shields and defeating the enemy with their crossbows."

Sir Darvius, Lieutenant Kathris, Serjeants Nexian, Aratan and Tristan, and Yeoman Khalea were all called forth for these events. Dame Eeva and Sir Alrik then stepped forward and expressed their thanks for their soldiers. The Lord Marshal, Dame Eeva, gave a sharp salute, "The Queen smiles upon her faithful servants, and you have all proven worthy of your badges."

The evening continued with merriment and chatting as the castle celebrated its faithful soldiers.

Those who were at this event include Lady Galatea, Lord Marshal Eeva, Captain Vessa, Sirs Alrik, Varick and Darvius, Lieuteant Kathris, Serjeants Tristan and Nexian, Yeoman Khalea and Kobe, Armsman Nazrin, Watchwomen Kallistya, Mistress Nariseth and Auriela, sers Venture, Izrith and Alti, seras Flora and Arlenia and this chronicler.
