*Do note before reading that this is a fictionalized version of events. No one was truly harmed and there was no actual danger present. Also, the Royal Army thanks all who chose to participate in yesterday's event. We do hope you had fun]

On the eve of the 12th Day of the 6th Moon, 23YRA, some of our beloved castle’s most daring swordsmen found themselves transformed into horrifying monstrosities. They took captive seras Arlenia and Heulyn, who were tortured with peppery lemon tarts and threatened to be ensorcelled into weevils. The two damsels were in such deep distress! Neither desired to be a weevil and the peppery lemon tarts were dastardly to a degree the seras were near to fainting.

There seemed to be no hope. They wailed and cried and flung their wrists to their foreheads in the manner that delicate women do when they are overcome. Their fates were sealed, and they awaited the dreadful moment when they would each become a weevil.

But the strange magics of the day were not done! Two of our intrepid Army folk were on patrol when the magics seized them up and bound them together, fusing two of their legs so that they created one large, three-legged Yeomonstrocity of their own. Yeoman’s Crevan and Sigrun, now literally joined at the hip, did not let their predicament faze them. Upon hearing the cries of our damsels, they armed themselves and – after learning how to walk with three legs – launched headlong into danger.

The first pair of monsters to meet the Yeomen were none other than Serjeant Ranger Nexian and ser Venture – of the tiny ears – who snarled most viciously at the Yeoman that their time was at an end. Yeoman Sigrun retorted in the negative and the three-legged Yeomen struggled toward the battle. The monsters jeered and laughed as the Yeoman struggled with their three-legged status.

Sera Arlenia swooned, exclaiming that the monsters had denied them chocolate, and that spurred our Yeomen into action. The battle was fierce, made all the fiercer by the wailing of the chocolate-less damsels. When the monsters overtook Yeoman Crevan, his death was most tragic and Yeoman Sigrun was forced to fight onward, dragging his weight behind her.

This proved too difficult and she too fell dead.

But the strange magic was not done and it returned our good Yeomen to life, allowing them to move forward through the field of noxious monsters. The next pair who flung themselves at Crevan and Sigrun were horrible versions of Serjeant Ranger Tristan and Watchman White. The taunting reached new levels as White and Tristan took to the field, and as the battle commenced, the Yeoman learned creative ways to whirl and strike with their three-legged form.

White managed to murder Yeoman Crevan most foully, but in the next instant, Sigrun avenged her fallen partner. Sadly, however, she remained fused to Crevan by the legs and the ungainly weight became too much. She fell to Serjeant Tristan’s bearish might.

But the strange magic would not have it. Not yet. It brought the Yeomen back to staggering life and they faced off against their final challenge. Their last fight pit them up against the sorcerer Izrith and Captain Vessa. They endured multiple moments of blindness as the sorcerer cast his spell to dazzle the room entire, and struggled to know which end of their weapon was pointed and which enemy, but they kept their chins high and battled onward, taking blow after blow until at last the sorcerer slapped Yeoman Crevan to death.

Once more, Sigrun found herself the single defender against a team of monsters. She valiantly held her own until the death blow came: a single beam of light that struck her in the chest and took her down.

A hush fell over the room.

Could the monsters truly be victorious?

Would Heluyn and Arlenia be forced into a chocolate-less future, condemned to eat pepper-tarts as weevils for the rest of eternity?

No, because magic was not done. It swept through the room, releasing the Yeoman from their fused form, and transforming all the monsters back into their natural selves. The damsels were freed, there would be no weevils in their future for now.

The feat had not been winning the battles, you see, it had been style and wit and teamwork, and insofar as magic was concerned, the Yeomen had won the day.
