The Red Bandit and the Attack on sera Mizuki

Twenty-sixth Day,  Eleventh Moon,
Twenty-Fourth Year of Recent Awakenings

In accordance with the will of Her Majesty and in upholding the duties charged to me as Junior Chronicler, I hereby submit the account of the red bandit and the attack on sera Mizuki.

At approximately half-past the 5th Bell on the 24th Day of the 11th Moon, a dishonorable assault was made against duelist Pledge Mizuki and this Chronicler. The afternoon had been full of pleasant conversation at sera Mizuki’s open gardening bell, but none could know the devious actions about to unfold as everyone went their separate ways. Plans were being made for the Dicey Night meant to be held in the Duelist Lounge that night, an event that sera Mizuki stated she planned to attend and encouraged others to attend as well.

These plans were not to come to fruition however, as sera Mizuki was set upon by the red-masked bandit on her way to her room. She states he demanded her purse, which she refused to give, later stating she believed the man wanted the notable healing supplies that are often grown within the garden society. The altercation took place north of the gallery, and that is where this Chronicler happened upon the scene.

This Chronicler entered as the red masked bandit thrust his rapier at the unarmed Mizuki. The sera attempted to lean away and evade the blow, but his blade stuck her in the belly. In response, sera Mizuki threw her cup of very hot tea in the bandit’s face, causing him to stumble and stagger back, which gave this Chronicler time to arm and step in.

Sera Elaynie arrived to find sera Mizuki bloody on the floor and the red bandit preparing to strike at this Chronicler. sera Elaynie blew her duckcall and retreated before the action began in earnest. The fight began with several quick strikes as the red bandit circled this Chronicler. “Let’s see how well peacocks play…” said he, but this Chronicler had no response beyond the work of the blade.

Sera Mizuki began crawling away from the action, leaving a ghastly trail in her wake. After several exchanges, ser Izrith arrived and stepped into the fight.  Upon noticing ser Izrith, the red bandit did voice a sordid opinion about the sort of man ser Izrith and the rest of us were, which for the delicate minds who may be reading this Chronicle, shall be withheld.

Ser Izrith stated this Chronicler should disengage and retreat with sera Mizuki, but the statement came too late into the fray. This Chronicler was struck in the shin by a low stab. Turning to sera Mizuki, this Chronicler was reaching to staunch the sera’s wound and prepare to move her when ser Izrith’s magic whisked the sera to safety. Moments later, this Chronicler was also magicked away and did immediately seek out sera Mizuki, who crawled from her room, still bleeding and in obvious pain.

When ser Izrith arrived in the guest hall he opened his door and gave sera Mizuki and this Chronicler shelter as the red bandit was still at large. Ser Izrith stated he had hurt the red bandit badly, but the bandit escaped. After seeing us safe, ser Izrith went out again in search of a Healer. Whilst out he stated that he and ser Cordon ran into the red bandit again, but that the bandit used a smoke bomb to evade capture once more. At present the bandit remains at large but is severely wounded. All healers are encouraged to keep escort whenever they move through the castle.

This chronicle will be subject to changes and corrections. I humbly ask all readers to please indicate to me discreetly, any falsehoods I may have mistakenly communicated. It is by means of the conservation of the Past that we continue to serve Her Majesty and give substance to those that follow.
