To Whom It May Concern:

I, Corporal Raulison, of the Winter Watch of Castle Marrach do hereby recommend that all rooms and passages not considered to be main lines of travel for members of the Outer and Court alike, be closed and avoided until further notice.
Patrols will be kept regularly to ensure passage from the Courtyard to the Chambers Office as well as Guest Rooms and Dining Hall and Infirmary are made safe. If there are any ghasts or threats present in a room that is NOT a main room or passage, avoid the area and alert the Winter Watch so we can ensure the area is handled.
As always, any sightings or encounters in the main areas of the Outer should be made known by duckcall as soon as possible, so they can be cleared.
Any questions may be direct to me personally.

To Whom It May Concern:

Currently, the ghasts and the ghost of the headless woman (for now shall be referenced as ghost) have been a minor threat to the stability of the keep so far. While the appearances of the ghost have been minor, the ghasts have been far more of a nuisance to the keep. Please adhere to this advice for your own safety.

Danger Prevention:
  • If you encounter the ghost, it is advised that one should leave the area as soon as possible and keep a fair distance from affected denizens. Immediately call for aid, using a duckcall. It has been observed that the ghost can inflict unnatural paranoia and fear, which may create situations that could end in serious injury. Despite this, the ghost does not seem to inflict physical wounds on its own.
  • Ghasts do not always attack denizens immediately. From gathered observations, ghasts normally attack when they first appear with another person present in an area. This generally happens upon entry to a room or an area. Ghasts attack denizens through the use of mists; these mists sap away energy and instill both melancholy and lethargy. Should a ghast emitting mists be encountered, immediately leave the area, call for aid using the duckcall, and refrain from re-entering the area. If you have an emergency ley stone and you aren't easily able to vacate the area, it is advised that you toss your ley  stone at the ghast to dispel it.
  • The ghost and ghasts combined can be very dangerous if any denizens are afflicted with unnatural paranoia and fear. In these circumstances, it is advised that you leave the area immediately and call for aid using the duckcall. Should the area be difficult to leave, one should use an emergency ley stone to dispel the ghasts and keep a good distance from any denizens who have been afflicted by paranoia.
  • If any denizens are stricken with lethargy and melancholy, due to the nature of the lethargy, they may not be able to remove themselves from an area. They may also be prone to bouts of nihilism. In cases such as these, do not remove them from the room until the ghast has been dispelled. Otherwise, you may be afflicted with the same lethargy and melancholy. If any denizen is stricken with lethargy and melancholy, please call for aid using the duckcall. If it is difficult to vacate an area, one should use an emergency ley stone and keep watch for affected denizens as they will not be able to defend themselves or be mobile on their own. If the ghost is also present in the area, one should immediately attempt to use an emergency ley stone and remove lethargic denizens from the area, as they may not be able to defend themselves from denizens affected by paranoia.


Observations
  • Ghasts have appeared in multiple common areas and other areas that are not as easily accessible, such as the Outer Bailey Library, for instance. All observations of ghast appearances in areas not easily accessible, or in restricted areas should warrant a call for aid, using the duckcall.
  • Ghasts do not always attack denizens with their mists. Normally they attack when they first appear, if a denizen has entered the area or has been in an area for a bit of time. Ghasts who have been left alone do not normally attack denizens.
  • Ghasts afflict melancholy and lethargy on any who touch them.
  • Ghasts do not appear to react to any particular words or phrases. They do not react to any actions. They are not aggressive nor are they mobile. They are easily dispelled by using a ley stone.
  • The ghost does not appear to react to any particular words or phrases. They do not react to any actions. The ghost is highly mobile and disappears and reappears at will. They are not affected by ley stones.
  • Ghasts do not have a telling sign of approach before they appear. They seem to spontaneously appear.
  • The ghost wails before appearing. They disappear in cloud of mists. Often, they appear to kick their head around for a moment, and they do not disappear whilst traveling to adjacent areas.

To all whom it may concern,

The headless horseman has been unleashed from the tome, and they are, of all the ghosts seen so far, the most dangerous. They will charge at and physically wound any denizens they see! Their weapon of choice, a whip, causes madness and rage upon their victim, forcing them to fight any and all around them.

Should you see the horseman, flee at once and blare your duckcall!

Should the horseman whip anyone, keep your distance and blare your duckcall. Do not approach the affected, they will not hesitate to attack and possibly kill you. Should they set their attentions to you, flee and blare your duckcall!
